About Me.
Hi! I’m Amanda Bundy, a 2010 graduate of the Deaconess program at Concordia Theological Seminary. I am serving at my first call at Grace Lutheran Church and School in St. Petersburg, FL. I decided to start this blog to keep track of what’s going on on my internship, and afterward.
I grew up in Cohasset, MN. Which is a small town way up north. If you’ve heard of it, you’re probably also from the Iron Range. For those of you that haven’t heard of it, it’s about 2 hours south of the Canadian border, an hour and a half west of Duluth, and about 3 1/2 hours north of the Twin Cities. It’s just outside of Grand Rapids… birthplace of Judy Garland.
I went to Concordia University, St. Paul, for my undergraduate studies and got a Theology major and Family Studies minor. I received my BA in three years of studies. I originally went to Concordia St. Paul to become a Director of Christian Education, but during my first year there didn’t feel like it was the right fit. Dr. Just came and talked about the Deaconess Program, and it was like God gave me a little smack as to where my gifts and talents could best be used to serve Him. So the next step in becoming a deaconess was to go to Concordia Theology Seminary in Fort Wayne. There I received my Master of Arts and Deaconess Certificate.
My favorite season is fall, I love when the leaves change colors. I always see it as a reminder of God’s love for me. [I also have noticed that I tend to like to dress in fall colors, but the Deaconess Garb hinders that a little.] Three of my favorite hobbies are reading, knitting, and photography. I also have a love of coffee, and love stumbling onto used bookstores with coffee shops. Or just little coffee shops in general. My favorite Bible verse is Ephesians 6:12, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

Hi Amanda. I’ve been taking a few minutes to look around your page. I pray things are going well for you and that you are learning a lot. Will you be home for Christmas at all or are you there the whole time? I expect it is warmer there than here. Rainy and cold again today. Went to the cities over the weekend and had a housewarming party for my youngest daughter – lots of work but lots of fun. Raced home to the voters’ meeting yesterday. Meet with Pastor Stroscheim tonight as I have been assisting with the stewardship program at church this fall. Also got a group together to clear the 1600 names on our roster – 900 of which are members.

I know that on their website they had a flashdrive of pictures they wanted people to buy, so I don’t think they have many pictures published elsewhere. God’s blessings!

Wanted you and the Grace Family to know about Kaitlin LaBuda, a graduate of Grace, who was involved in a serious accident yesterday while traveling home for the holidays. Please pray for her recovery and comfort for her family.
